Come and celebrate el Día de los Muertos with art, ballet folklórico and more! This year the California Center for the Arts, Escondido celebrates our 22nd annual Festival. It is going to be better than ever. As always, attendees will be able to create altars to remember lost loved ones in a special area created by artist Eloy Tarcisio. For the children, we will have face painting, arts and crafts, and more. Food and handmade goods will be available for purchase.

This year’s festival includes a live performance in the Concert Hall by Selena Tribute Band Como la Flor. Don’t forget to stop by an altar to Selena created by artist Daniel Martinez that will be on display at the Center until November 17, 2017. Participate in our Selena Singing Contest!

We also have events from November 2 through 4 for you to celebrate. On November 2, paint a master copy of Diego Rivera’s The Flower Seller. Then on November 3, celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic film Selena. Finally, on November 4, experience the history of Mexico on stage with Folklor.

The festival begins at 6:00 pm and is free and open to the public. Altar space will not be available until 6:00 pm, but early arrival is strongly recommended. Guests will not need a ticket to enjoy the festival.

The Bing Crosby Season will bring back the cool Del Mar vibe, fabulous Southern California weather and quality racing November 1 through November 26. Named in honor of Del Mar’s iconic founder, fans will enjoy top Thoroughbreds, great food and drinks, plus exciting promotions and concerts. The 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be held on November 3 and 4.

EXPOSURE is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women through skateboarding. We create opportunities for women by organizing events that provide all-female professional and amateur skateboarding competitions, learn-to-skate clinics and wellness education. Proceeds from our events support survivors of domestic violence.

EXPOSURE – Our annual event is the biggest women’s skateboarding event in the world and features:

San Diego Beer Week brings together more than 100 San Diego County breweries for a 10-day celebration with more than 500 events. Enjoy brewery tours, rare beer tastings, Meet the Brewer events and beer education. The week kicks off with the 15th Annual San Diego Brewers Guild Festival at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego. Bike the Coast Taste the CoastBike the Coast – Taste the Coast

Join us for the 8th Annual Bike the Coast – Taste the Coast on November 4, 2017! Pick one of 3 awesome courses of 25, 50 and 100 miles, or grab a jersey combo. YOu will join 2,400 cyclists for a fantastic experience on the beautiful California coast and the amazing venue of the Oceanside Pier. Due to repairs being made to the San Luis Rey Bike Trail, the 7 and 15 mile rides have been postponed until next year.

Taste the Coast is a festival at the Oceanside Pier that includes local cuisine, music, a beer garden and a sports expo. Admission to Taste the Coast is free, and riders receive Taste the Coast food tickets.


Heritage Park Fall FestivalFall Festival

Location: Oceanside, Heritage Park, 220 Peyri Rd

Come celebrate the Harvest Season at the Heritage Park Fall Festival on Saturday, November 12, from 12pm-4pm. The Fall Festival will be a day of family fun featuring games, music and a chili cook-off. Admission to the Fall Festival is free. You can purchase game tickets and food at the event.

Proceeds benefit the Friends of Oceanside’s Parks and support Oceanside’s Parks and Recreation programs and services.


Carlsbad Village FaireCarlsbad Village Faire

Location: Carlsbad, Grand Ave between Carlsbad Blvd and Jefferson St

More than 100,000 people will take in the beauty of our seaside city while browsing through unique booths, indulging in delectable eats and enjoying family entertainment. This is the largest one-day street faire in the nation.

The Carlsbad Village Faire will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After more than 40 years, the free event has grown to be so popular that it not only continually attracts people from all over Southern California, but also from other states. Some visitors even plan their vacations around the bi-annual event.

Just like at past faires, over 900 vendors will sell everything fathomable, including clothes, accessories, plants, household products, art, antiques and home decor. The international food court will feature more than 50 booths serving everything from Thai to Hawaiian cuisine. The children’s area will entertain youngsters with games, a super slide, a bounce house, a rock climbing wall, face painting and arts and crafts.

The Rotary Club of Carlsbad’s beer and wine garden will entertain fairgoers with a large screen TV and live bands. The Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad will continue its more than 25-year tradition of hosting a pancake breakfast at the Carlsbad railroad depot. The meal, which includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice, will be served between 7 a.m. and noon.

Grand Avenue from Carlsbad Boulevard to Jefferson Street, and all of the cross streets in between, will be closed for the event. To make parking more convenient, complimentary shuttles will run to and from the faire. Shuttles will pick up and drop off passengers at the Poinsettia Coaster Station and the northwest corner of Sears at The Shoppes at Carlsbad.

5K and One Mile Walk/Run

Today, there are more races than you can count. But none have the same impact on breast cancer as the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure®. With $1.1 million invested here this year alone, Komen San Diego continues to be the County’s largest provider of free breast cancer treatments, services and support. The event raises significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

Seventy-five percent of the money raised stays in our community to help fund local programs offering breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment. The remaining 25 percent goes to fund vital research so we can find the cures.


San Diego Asian Film FestivalSan Diego Asian Film Festival

The San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF) is San Diego’s premier film showcase of Asian American and international cinema. Founded in 2000, the festival has grown to become the largest exhibition of Asian cinema in the western United States. It has showcased everything from future classics like Bong Joon-ho’s Memories of Murder (US Premiere) to luminary independent work like Patrick Wang’s award-winning In the Family (North American Premiere). Each year, the festival brings West Coast, North American, and world premieres of films from around the world to San Diego. Additionally, it gives San Diego audiences unique opportunities to discover international cinema.

This year, the 18th edition of SDAFF will showcase over 150 films from 20 countries at 6 different venues in San Diego from November 9-18, 2017.

Escondido Tamale FestivalEscondido Tamale Festival

Start your day honoring the men and women who served our country with a Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 am. This will be followed by a festive celebration with tamales, beer, live entertainment, and more! Enjoy free admission, great food, craft beer and wine to purchase, entertainment, competitions (including the chihuahua costume contest and fashion show) and celebrity chefs. Of course, you’ll also find the best tamales in Southern California.

The Escondido Tamale Festival is a celebration of tamales and all the great Latin foods that have become iconic staples of California’s culture. It’s a look back at the history of the Spanish and Mexican settlers who have influenced and contributed so much to our multicultural community. Equally, it’s a show of appreciation for the traditions which have so positively affected Escondido.

It all leads up to a celebratory Closing Ceremony at Waterfront Park in San Diego.

Come do your holiday shopping with original creations from local artisans and craftsmen. There will be free family fun, live entertainment and more than 450 unique food, arts and crafts vendors plus four entertainment stages, children’s rides, Bike Valets, and a Beer Garden!

Enjoy craft beers and soak up the California sun while listening to the best bands in San Diego rock out at the Beer Garden Stage. You can even bring your kids and your dogs! Take a break from the hustle and bustle by listening to the eclectic music at The Lumberyard Courtyard Stage. See the stars of tomorrow perform at the Hansen’s Community Stage and the Encinitas School of Music Stage!

Our two Bike Valet stations are open both days to store your bicycles while you walk through the Street Fair! There is NO PARKING on Hwy 101 from D to J Street on Saturday and Sunday from 4am – 6pm. Your car will be towed by law enforcement if parked in the specified area. There will be signage leading up to the Street Fair as a reminder.


Oceanside Turkey TrotO’side Turkey Trot

The O’side Turkey Trot is recognized as one of the Top Trots in the country by Runner’s World Magazine. In fact, the trot attracts visitors from 46 States and 460 cities.

We invite you to come “move your feet before you eat” this Thanksgiving at Oceanside’s 12th Annual PMCU Turkey Trot 10k or 5K run/walk. Join one of the fastest growing holiday traditions. Be sure to bring the whole family, as there will be races for everyone. Also, the event offers a costume contest, largest teams competition, fabulous live entertainment on the course and finisher medals for all participants. All registered participants get free digital photos, medals, shirts, and timing. The event has raised over $270,000 for non-profits that serve Oceanside residents.


Del Mar Thanksgiving Family RunDel Mar Thanksgiving Family Mile Fun Run

And away YOU go… and Down the Stretch YOU come!

Kick-off Thanksgiving Day with the Del Mar Family Mile Fun Run on the famous Del Mar racetrack. Begin from the actual starting gate. Make a one-mile lap all the way around, and finish in the Winners’ Circle where you will get your picture taken. Several Del Mar jockeys will be running, jogging and walking right with you!

Participants will receive racetrack admission, parking, and a fun run t-shirt. Registration and pre-race activities start at 7 am and include: games and prizes for kids, face painting, entertainers, holiday arts and crafts, animals from the Helen Woodward Animal Center, and more. Don’t forget to come in costume and enter the costume contest.

Following the 8 am Fun Run, the Helen Woodward Animal Center will conduct the one-of-a-kind Puppy Races. These adorable puppies will be available for adoption the following day.


Encinitas Turkey TrotEncinitas Turkey Trot & Food Drive

If you have never walked or run along the Pacific Coast in Encinitas in late November, you are in for the surprise of your life. Early morning brings a beautiful color to the Pacific Ocean. The waves have a special look during this time of the year.

Start your Thanksgiving holiday with friends, family and thousands of costumed participants at the Encinitas Turkey Trot 5K and 10K. The fun starts and finishes under the world famous “ENCINITAS” sign on Coast Highway.

This event supports the Encinitas Community Resource Center and our Thanksgiving Meals in a Basket Program through Encinitas American Legion Post #416.
