North Coast Rep Hedda Gabler

First Friday Art Walk

The Oceanside Cultural Consortium (OCC) was established in 2013 with the goal of establishing Oceanside and surrounding communities as an important arts, culture, entertainment and tourism hub/destination that catalyzes economic prosperity and a high quality of life for Oceanside’s future. Its members include nearly 50 different Oceanside arts, community, business, and civic organizations. This vibrant arts, performances, music, poetry, activities, food, and fun for all ages, is free!
National Trails Day

The City of Carlsbad will celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at The Crossings at Carlsbad Golf Course and Veterans Park trails. The event will include an art poster activity for children and a guided nature hike.
National Trails Day, the country’s largest celebration of trails, began in the late 1980s and is organized by the American Hiking Society. “Trails are one of the most cherished features of Carlsbad and allow residents to get outdoors, enjoy the diversity of nature in our coastal environment and lead an active, healthy lifestyle,” says Liz Ketabian, City of Carlsbad park planning manager. “Every year we have hundreds of volunteers who help maintain our wonderful trail system for all to enjoy. We are excited to have this day for residents to come explore Carlsbad’s extensive trail system.”
The Crossings trails are located to the west of the golf course and enter Marcario Canyon which is a diverse local riparian habitat. The trail leads to a rustic golf cart bridge over Macario Creek at the bottom of the canyon, and then continues on a golf course cart path into Veterans Park through a pedestrian tunnel under Faraday Avenue. Veterans Park includes more primitive trails that can be hiked to high vistas with breathtaking views of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean.
Participants should meet at the west end of The Crossings at Carlsbad clubhouse parking lot to check in for this free event. Please wear closed-toe shoes, sunscreen and a hat. Water and snacks will be provided. In the event of rain, the event will be canceled.
World Famous Marine Corps Mud Run

The Camp Pendleton Hard Corps Race Series®, home of the World Famous Mud Run®, offers a variety of world class events to include a half marathon and 10K, 5K, 1K kids run, sprint triathlon and duathlon, Fat Tire mountain bike race, Warrior Warrior event and Tour de Camp Pendleton featuring a fun ride option.
The series boasts four divisions: civilian male, civilian female, military male and military female. Competitors enjoy fun and challenging races with commemorative t-shirts, extensive course support, custom awards and great locations.
RB Alive! Street Fair

Come and help us celebrate the North San Diego Business Chamber’s 27th Annual RB Alive!. There will be a full day of entertainment and enjoyment with over 300 booths. Visitors can browse the arts and crafts booths, get information from regional and local businesses, service clubs and religious organizations and of course partake in tasty treats and meals from food vendors.
Several special interest areas are in store for the 35,000 expected visitors. The Kids Zone will provide lots of rides, games and special carnival foods. The Cultural Center will have historical reenactments and local organizations will share their art, culture, history and/or handiwork. And everyone will want to stop by to view the Classic Car Show.

At this interactive event, we’ll start the evening with a wine and cheese reception and then it’s time to grab your smart phone and share your opinion! You’ll get a sneak peek at new ideas, locales and productions and use your smart phone, tablet or laptop to give feedback in real time on polls about the company, the product, the ticket prices, the venues and anything else that may influence your decision to attend –or not attend – opera in San Diego. This collected information will inform and help shape the future of SD Opera. Attendees will use a cellphone, tablet or laptop capable of internet access through a cellular network, so be sure to charge up before you arrive! After, we’ll enjoy more beverages and snacks and hold a raffle for opera tickets and other fun prizes!

Surfing America USA Surfing Championships

As the official ISA-recognized National Governing Body for the sport of surfing in the United States, Surfing America is responsible for holding the USA Surfing Championships event each year and for selecting the official USA Surf Team to compete internationally.
June 9 & 10 – All Longboard and All Adult Shortboard – You must have surfed, HSA State Championships, NSSA Regional Championships, ESA Regional Championships, WSA West Coast Championships or ASF East Coast Championships. Enter only the divisions for which you are qualified.
June 11 – All SUP Surf Divisions – Open to all. USA SUP Surf Team Trial Event
June 12 – All Adaptive Divisions – Open to all except California Up Right Waveski Surfers that did not surf WSA West Coast Championships. This event is the USA Adaptive Team Trial for Mainland surfers.

San Marcos ROCK Blues & BBQ Fest 2016

Twenty three years ago, Dennis and Lorri Allen started their automotive business, Allen’s Wrench. After one year of growing success, they decided to show their appreciation to their customers. Dennis got his band together and Lorri brought out her BBQ and together they had a day of music and food for their customers. The day was such a success, that they decided to do this every year. And with each year, the event grew and so did the bands. At one point they had eleven bands and served up over 500 burgers! Most of the bands were friends of the Allens, who would play for free, just to join in the fun. Bill Magee, Aunt Kizzyz Boyz and many other well known local artists, played every year.
After 15 years of holding their event in Allen’s Wrench parking lot, the Allens decided to join with the City of San Marcos and let their event grow. This will be the 5th year with the city of San Marcos and the Allens are happy to see their event growing.They are also glad to have the opportunity to share their event with the community.
Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door. Free admission for children 12 and under. Special prize drawings and give aways. Bring beach chairs or blankets for lawn seating. Beach umbrellas allowed in designated area. No outside alcohol, glass or EZ Ups allowed.
Annual Inter-Tribal Powwow

Join the San Luis Rey Band of Luiseño Mission Indians for the 20th Annual Inter-Tribal Powwow with arts and craft booths, food, dancers, drums, an opportunity drawing and contest dancing.
Saturday, June 11 will include blessing the arena, gourd dancing, the grand entry, inter-tribal dancing and contest dancing. Sunday, June 12 will include gourd dancing, the grand entry, inter-tribal and contest dancing, the committee honararium and closing song.
Splash Into Summer & Splash Bash

Race Across America
June 14 & 18
Location: Oceanside, Oceanside Pier
Race Across America (RAAM) is one the most respected and longest running endurance sports events in the world. RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community as well. Racers must traverse 3000 miles across 12 states and climb over 170,000 vertical feet. Team racers have a maximum of nine days and most finish in about seven and a half days. Teams will ride 350-500 miles a day, racing non-stop. Solo racers have a maximum of 12 days to complete the race, with the fastest finishing in just over eight days. Solo racers will ride 250-350 miles a day, balancing speed and the need for sleep. Come show your Oceanside spirit by cheering on the start of these endurance racers!
Solo racers will start from the Oceanside Pier on Tuesday, June 14. Relay teams will start on Saturday, June 18.
Escondido Roots Series 2016 – Israel

San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is excited to present the Escondido Roots Series as part of the Museum’s mission to celebrate and educate children and families about world cultures. Roots programs highlight the diverse cultural traditions of a community represented in San Diego County.
This free program features cultural performances, crafts, costumes, and other activities to showcase the culture’s rich art and history. Entertainment – often by children performers – can include storytelling, music, dance or puppetry. During the program month, the Global Village and Marketplace exhibit is transformed to reflect the culture, along with books and costumes. Additionally, craft and storytime will carry the theme of the celebrated culture with a different book and craft each week of that month.
Roots events are held on the third Saturday of alternating months from 2-4pm. Free admission begins at 1:45pm on the specified program date.
Fairy Festival 2016

Calling all Fairy Prince and Princesses! Children (and parents) are invited to celebrate summer at the annual Fairy Festival at the Hamilton Children’s Garden at San Diego Botanic Gardens in Encinitas on Saturday, June 18 from 10 am – 4 pm.
The Fairy Festival features fairy and garden themed crafts, where children can make anything from their own flower fairy doll to treasure chests; face painting; a fairy land to be explored; and an official fairy queen ready to have their picture taken with visitors to our magical garden. In addition to the crafting and shopping in the Fairyland Market, there will be great entertainment including Interactive Native Music with Marin Espinosa from 10:30 am – 12 pm and kid-friendly free-range folk music with San Diego favorites Hullabaloo from 1 – 2 pm. Food provided by Leucadia Pizza and Rita’s Italian Ice in Encinitas.
The Fairy Festival is a fun event in our nationally-acclaimed Hamilton Children’s Garden, a great atmosphere for children and families to interact with plants and nature. Youngsters are welcome to don wings and dress up in their favorite fairy costumes – or just come as they are – while enjoying an array of activities in the Garden. The Hamilton Children’s Garden is the largest interactive children’s garden on the West Coast and provides a full acre of interactive exhibits offering children and their families the opportunity to experience the magic of the outdoors firsthand.
Make Music Day

The Museum joins the global Make Music Day celebration by offering “Pay what you wish!” admission and musical activities all day long. There is something for everyone during make music day:
Perform Live – Everyone aged 3 to 103 is invited to bring an instrument and play on one of the performance stages set up in the museum galleries. Mini Lessons – Presented in partnership with Recreational Music Center, small group lessons on guitar, ukulele and more will be offered throughout the galleries. Learn a few chords with your friends and family and fellow Museum guests. Instruments are provided.
The Infinity Chamber (one day pop-up exhibit!) – Explore a space where time and sound become entangled to create unexpected forms. The sounds within are entirely your own – sing, whisper, and scream to discover the secrets of the Infinity Chamber.
Happy Hour – Have to work during the day? Don’t worry because we are extending our normal hours for Make Music Day and turning it into a happy hour! From 5PM-7PM check out the museum exhibits, enjoy a beverage from the cash bar and rock out to live music.

Affordable Pet Licensing, Vaccination & Microchip

San Diego Scottish Highland Games
June 25 – 26
Location: Vista, Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Dr
When celebrating in times of peace one of the Highlanders’ favorite pastimes was the tainchel. For these “great hunts” very often several clans would combine. Chieftains would send word to the clansmen that such an event was planned and when and where they should assemble.
After a successful hunt a great feast and celebration would be held. Then the rival clansmen would test each other’s prowess at various sports – running, jumping, wrestling, or primitive forms of weight putting with stones, or divided into roughly equal sides vying against each other in a very early form of camanachd or shinty. Lastly the clansmen would vie with each other in piping and in dancing, the pipers taking it in turns to demonstrate their skills and the clansmen to demonstrate their agility and neatness of movement by dancing complicated steps to the pipe music. These relaxations were in effect the forerunners of the modern Highland games.
Come see Highland dancing, bagpiping and drumming, heavy athletics, sheep dog trials, Celtic history and other educational seminars, children’s activities, and Celtic bands.
Julian Gold Rush Days

Julian Gold Rush Days celebrates the discovery of gold in this mountain community and invites visitors to learn more about its history with a weekend of entertainment for the whole family.
There will be lots of fun activites including historical encampments (with a chance to meet miners, mountain men and cowboys!), gun fighting, reenactments and mock claim jumping, tomahawk throwing demonstrations, gold panning and so much more!!
The old fashioned mining camp will offer $3 admission for those over 12 years of age, while those 12 and younger are free, vendors, an arts and crafts market, food and drink, gem mining, children’s pioneer games, free parking and plenty of family fun.
