North County and San Diego Events for February

North County and San Diego events in February bring lots of fun activities. There are outdoor events like tidepooling, fishing, a Valentine’s Day cruise, runs, walks and a clean up event. Plus there’s plenty of great indoor entertainment. Go to a dog show, visit a museum (or three), watch a film, or see a concert.

Tidepooling Adventure with Birch Aquarium

Dec. 14-Mar. 29, specific weekends
Explore a local tide pool with a Birch Aquarium naturalist and learn about the animals that make their homes in this ever-changing environment. Discover the importance of tide pool habitats to our local coastlines and what you can do to protect them. Advanced registration required.

San Diego International Jewish Film Festival

Jan. 27-Feb. 11
The festival will showcase a selection of the best contemporary Jewish-related films. This festival is known to be one of the most prestigious Jewish film festivals in the country. Live screenings through February 8. Virtual screenings will be on demand February 9-11.

Youth Fishing Derby, Seminar & Campout

Jan. 31-Feb. 1
Free dinner and fishing seminar from 5-6pm on Friday, January 31. Tent camping available with DJ entertainment, carnival games, bounce house, prices and crafts.
The Fishing Derby is open to youth 15 years and younger from 6am-12pm on Saturday, February 1. The lake will be freshly stocked with rainbow trout. Participants must check in at the registration tables before fishing. Winners must be present to claim prizes at the awards ceremony.

Museum Month: Half-Off Admission

Mitchell Thorp Foundation 5K Run/Walk

Feb. 1
Come support a child fighting for their tomorrow. We’ll have food, vendors, and entertainment including a DJ, bands, a kids’ area with inflatable jumpies, performance groups and a spectacular aerial entry by Leap Frog Safety Instructor Jim Woods and several Navy Seals.

City Hike – Piedras Pintadas/Bernardo Bay Trails

This is a moderate to strenuous hike. We’ll cross the Kreitzer Bridge and the edges of Lake Hodges on this beautiful 8-mile hike that takes you on the Piedras Pintadas and Bernardo Bay Trails. You’ll only gain 440’ of elevation.
