North County and San Diego Events for February

North County and San Diego events in February bring lots of fun activities. There are outdoor events like tidepooling, fishing, Valentine’s Day cruises, runs, walks and an equestrian show. Plus there’s plenty of great indoor entertainment. Go to a dog show, visit a museum, watch a film, or see a concert. Keep reading for more great San Diego and North County events!

Tidepooling Adventure with Birch Aquarium

Jan. 20-Mar. 10, specific Saturdays
Explore a local tide pool with a Birch Aquarium naturalist and learn about the animals that make their homes in this ever-changing environment. Discover the importance of tide pool habitats to our local coastlines and what you can do to protect them. Advanced registration required.

San Diego International Jewish Film Festival

Jan. 31-Feb. 11
The festival will showcase a selection of the best contemporary Jewish-related films. This festival is known to be one of the most prestigious Jewish film festivals in the country. Films will be on demand to screen virtually from February 11-February 18. There will be plenty of free, in person only, screenings at the David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre.

Museum Month: Half-Off Admission

San Diego area residents and visitors are in for a special treat in February! Pick up your Museum Month discount pass at any public library in San Diego County starting late January and bring it to a participating museum from February 1-29. You can also download a digital pass starting February 1.

Youth Fishing Derby, Seminar & Campout

Feb. 2-3
Learn to fish from the pros and watch demonstrations on how to properly rig a line the night before the 29th Annual Youth Fishing Derby. The fishing seminar will begin at 5pm on the 3rd. Participants and their families are invited to spend the night for only $16 a car. Don’t forget your camping and grilling supplies.
The Fishing Derby is open to youth 15 years and younger and will be on the 3rd from 6am-12pm. Absolutely no fishing is permitted prior to the Derby. The lake will be freshly stocked with rainbow trout. Participants must check in at the registration tables before fishing. Winners must be present to claim prizes at the awards ceremony.

Mitchell Thorp Foundation 5K Run/Walk

Feb. 3
Come support a child fighting for their tomorrow. We’ll have food, vendors, and entertainment including a DJ, bands, a kids’ area with inflatable jumpies, performance groups and a spectacular aerial entry by Leap Frog Safety Instructor Jim Woods and several Navy Seals.
Proceeds benefit children with life threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders. Bring out your warrior spirit to help a warrior child!

City Hike – Bernardo Mountain/Lake Hodges

Feb. 3
We’ll go under the 15 freeway, walk along the shoreline of the north side of Lake Hodges and cross Felicita Creek before we begin the ascent of Bernardo Mountain. Expect 7.4 miles on the trail and 800′ of elevation gain. Hike rating = strenuous.

Seaside Equestrian Tour
