North County and San Diego events in February bring lots of fun activities. There are outdoor events like tidepooling, fishing, Valentine’s Day cruises, runs and a walk for animals. Beyond King Tut

Commemorating the historic discovery of King Tut’s tomb 100 years ago, the exhibition combines the power of cinematic storytelling and soaring imagery to bring the National Geographic archives to life. With nine galleries to explore, visitors wind through the story of a young boy to discover how he changed the ancient and modern world.

Museum Month: Half-Off Admission

Feb. 1-28
San Diego area residents and visitors are in for a special treat in February! Pick up your Museum Month discount pass at any public library in San Diego County starting January 26 and bring it to a participating museum from February 1-28.

Youth Fishing Derby, Seminar & Campout

Feb. 3-4
Learn to fish from the pros and watch demonstrations on how to properly rig a line the night before the 28th Annual Youth Fishing Derby. The fishing seminar will begin at 5pm on the 3rd. Participants and their families are invited to spend the night for only $16 a car. Don’t forget your camping and grilling supplies.
The Fishing Derby is open to youth 15 years and younger and will be on the 4th from 6am-12pm. Absolutely no fishing is permitted prior to the Derby. The lake will be freshly stocked with rainbow trout. Participants must check in at the registration tables before fishing. Winners must be present to claim prizes at the awards ceremony.

Mitchell Thorp Foundation 5K Run/Walk

Feb. 4
Come support a child fighting for their tomorrow. All participants receive a t-shirt, raffle tickets, and finisher’s medal. We’ll have music, bounce houses, ponies, family activities, vendor booths, prizes, food, and a chance to participate in a 50/50 raffle.
Proceeds benefit children with life threatening illnesses, diseases and disorders. Bring out your warrior spirit at this great San Diego event to help a warrior child!

City Hike – Sunset Drive to Felicita Creek

Feb. 4
Take a scenic 6.85-mile hike along the Lake Hodges north shoreline from I-15 to the Felicita Creek Crossing and beyond. There will be 456 feet of elevation gain. Hike rating = moderate.
