The Flower Fields

For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of north San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life.

The Flower Fields are an alcohol and tobacco free environment. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted onsite. No pets, bicycles, hoverboards or drones are permitted.
The OUTSIDER

Mickey Cafagna Memorial Golf Classic

The Mickey Cafagna Memorial Golf Classic was established to honor Mickey Cafagna, former Mayor of Poway. He was one of the most loved and respected elected officials in the city’s history, and distinguished himself by his thoughtful leadership and enthusiastic support of numerous nonprofit organizations.
Beneficiary

Annual Spring Home/Garden Show
March 6 – 8
Location: Del Mar, Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd
Now in its 35th year, the Spring Home/Garden Show returns to Del Mar Fairgrounds for a three-day extravaganza. There’s inspiring real "Garden Masters" landscapes, hands-on demonstrations, hundreds of home-improvement products and services exhibitors, educational seminars, plant sales, and face-to-face consultations with top experts. Plus you get easy, one-stop shopping for everything pertaining to home and garden, inside and outside.
The show focuses on San Diego-area experts, services, products, and businesses. Visitors find everything they need to save time and money improving, refreshing, or remodeling their home and outdoor surroundings. You’ll find the latest in appliances, garden lighting, fencing, security systems, baths and sunrooms. Tickets purchased online are $5. Regular admission is $8.
Tip Top Run

Join us to celebrate the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation’s Annual Fun Run from one of two starting points around our lagoon. This year’s Dash & Bash raises friends, funds and awareness about the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. This 5K/10K fun run and walk includes lunch from Tip Top Meats, a t-shirt, swag bag, bib, family activities and a beer garden. There is shuttle transportation back to your starting point.
World Water Day Festival
Along with the races, there will be a World Water Day Festival, from 9am to 12pm with games, activities and crafts.
North County Heart & Stroke Walk
March 7

By participating in the North County San Diego Heart & Stroke Walk, you’re joining a million Heart Walk Heroes from across the nation raising funds for lifesaving science. Science that can teach us all how to live longer and be Healthy For Good.
Enjoy a 3-mile walk through beautiful flowers at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as you will encounter a few hills. Heart disease and stroke survivors have the option to partake in a shortened 1 mile route. With each step you’ll help cure heart disease and stroke. You’ll help millions of people celebrate more birthdays, fulfill more dreams and share more hugs.
Busker Festival
March 7 – 8
Location: San Diego, Seaport Village, 849 West Harbor Dr
The Busker Festival at Seaport Village celebrates the fascinating and unique talents of street performers who come from across the world to entertain us here in San Diego.
In its 14th year, this free event – California’s only busker festival – is a family-friendly spectacle and a beloved Seaport Village tradition. View 24 eye-catching and unique performances like sword swallowing, knife throwing, pogo stick tricks and juggling on unicycles. Enjoy live music and help determine the People’s Choice award at Seaport Village.
Kid Zone
On Saturday from 12-6 enjoy BUSKER KID ZONE in our Lighthouse District. This is the ultimate experience for kids or kids at heart to learn from the professionals how to perform all your favorite circus and street theatre acts.
Annual Koi Show
March 7 – 8
Location: Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd
Over 300 Koi will be on display in competitions, ranging in size from 6 inches to 3 feet long. Learn how to build your own Koi pond and waterfall, turning your backyard into a tropical paradise.
The show will feature vendors selling Koi art, Koi T-Shirts, Koi fish of all sizes, ponds and equipment, including solar power for Koi ponds.
Free Admission
Admission to the Annual Koi Show is free. Hours: 9am to 4pm on Saturday March 7th; 9am to 2pm on Sunday March 8th.
CRSSD Festival
March 7 – 8
Location: San Diego, Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Highway
The two-day, outdoor CRSSD music fest returns to Waterfront Park. The festival features 36+ artists on three stages. In addition to the music, the festival will offer craft beer, mixed drinks, food, and more.
San Diego Latino Film Festival
March 12 – 22
Location:San Diego, AMC Fashion Valley 18 & Digital Gym Cinema
The San Diego Latino Film Festival will take place March 12-22 at the AMC 18 Fashion Valley theaters in Mission Valley and the Digital Gym Cinema in North Park. The festival will present over 160 films from Latin America, the United States, and Spain.
Special Events
In addition to the films, the festival includes the 5th Annual Sabor Latino, a food, beer & wine festival on March 14th. There will also be Sonido Latino Concerts, a filmaker and actor pre-screening mixer and a closing night awards ceremony and concert.
South Oceanside Hot Rod, Rat Rod, Custom Car, Bike and Boat Show
March 21
Location: Oceanside, 1806 S Horne St
This is a neighborhood event with awesome vehicles, entertainment, food and fun for everyone! Funds raised from this event go to support South Oceanside Elementary School. It raises funds for a variety of school necessities and helps pay for 5th graders’ week-long science camp.
Carlsbad 5000
March 21 – 22
Location: Encinitas, San Diego Botanic Garden, 230 Quail Gardens Dr
The World’s Fastest 5K also includes a Junior Carlsbad run and an All Day 20K. The Junior Carlsbad on the 21st is for kids 12 and under and includes a 1-mile and 1/2-mile run, a Toddler Trot and a Diaper Dash. The 5K and 20K races will be on March 22nd.
Weekend activities include Saturday youth activities and live kids’ entertainment. On Sunday after crossing the finish line, runners celebrate their achievements at the always popular Party by the Sea with local craft beers, live music, and high fives all around.
Kia Classic
March 23 – 29
Location: Carlsbad, Aviara Golf Club, 7447 Batiquitos Dr
The 11th annual Kia Classic LPGA tournament returns to its home at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad from March 23-29.
The Kia Classic features a 144-player field competing for a purse of $1.8 million. The 2020 Kia Classic field includes all Top 10 LPGA players. Plus 75 of the top 80 golfers on last year’s money list are scheduled to compete.
Schedule
Tournament week will include a qualifier, practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday, a Wednesday pro-am and four competitive rounds of play from Thursday through Sunday.
Pirate Plunge
March 28
5 – 9 PM
Location: Carlsbad, Alga Norte Aquatic Center, 6565 Alicante Rd
Bring a swim suit and join the Pirate fun at Alga Norte Aquatic Center with pirate themed pool activities including Diving for Treasure, Ship Raiders, and more. Race across the floating obstacles and walk the diving board plank. The Splash Pad will also be open for the little ones.
Dry activities include a pirate ship slide, a photo op and a treasure hunt where children will have the chance to follow a map around the decks collecting treasure along the way.
The night ends with a special movie presentation of Treasure Planet (rated PG) on the giant outdoor movie screen.
Cost & Registration
Cost is $10 per person. Children ages 3 and under are free but need to be registered. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Encinitas Half Marathon & 5K
March 29

Location: Encinitas, Moonlight Beach, 401 C St
With a fast OCEANFRONT course perfect for both first-timers and elite athletes, the Encinitas Half Marathon is 13.1 miles of unforgettable fun through America’s most quintessential surf town! Plus there’s a 5K this year. 100% of the net proceeds are donated to ocean conservation projects.
Racers get a high-quality tech tee or tank, huge finisher’s medal, breakfast and a souvenir race mug. The race is professionally timed with prize money for the top five overall male and female half marathon finishers. There is course support and funky entertainment, pacing groups and a gear check. Racers also get seven miles of breathtaking ocean views from Highway 101!
