2020 Invitational
December 15 – February 8
Location: Carlsbad, Cannon Art Gallery, 1775 Dove Ln
More than 500 artists have appeared in the Cannon Art Gallery Juried Biennial exhibitions. In the alternative years, we present the Invitational. This is an exhibition showcasing the work of artists from the preceding Biennial.
This year we are presenting work from local artists Sue DeWulf, Juan Flores, Alison Haley Paul, Annalise Neil and Vicki Walsh.
San Diego International Auto Show
January 1 – 5
Location: San Diego Convention Center, 111 West Harbor Dr
The San Diego International Auto Show features an incredible variety of new vehicles under one roof. There will be more than 400 vehicles from 30-plus global manufacturers. Be among the first in the U.S. to see San Diego debuts of newly unveiled vehicles not yet in showrooms. The wide selection of 2020 and 2021 model-year vehicles on display will feature the newest technology to enhance the driving experience, all packaged in luxurious interiors and wrapped in cutting-edge designs.
San Dieguito River Park

The San Dieguito River Park hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from volunteer activities to bird walks.

OMA Plein Air Paint Out at Buccaneer Beach
January 5

Location: Oceanside, 1506 S Pacific St
Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) is a cultural jewel located in downtown Oceanside with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the historic Oceanside Pier. In addition to contemporary art exhibitions, OMA offers classes, lectures, concerts, docent tours, and community events. The museum is a gathering place where friends meet to share and enjoy rich cultural experiences.
Open to All Artists
The OMA Plein Air Paint Out is open to artists at any level. Each non-instructed event is held at a different location. Stop by OMA afterwards to share your work with Artist Alliance members over a cup of coffee until 2:00pm. Location listed above is tentative and subject to change. Bloomsday at North Coast Repertory Theatre

Poway Community Park’s Winter Festival

Location: Poway Community Park, 13094 Civic Center Dr
Experience the magic and charm of winter like never before! Join us for Winter Festival. Times are: Friday, January 10 from 5:00-9:00pm and Saturday, January 11 from 2:30-3:30 for the special needs community, and 3:30-8:30pm at Poway Community Park.
Feel snow between your fingers while sledding down the snow hill. Smell roasting marshmallows as you devour delicious s’mores. Experience the wind in your hair skating around the synthetic ice rink, and more! Lights will twinkle as music sets the tone and laughter fills the air. The Winter Festival brings to life all of the charm and entertainment of a cold-mountain town, set right in Poway. Bring one or bring all! There’s something for everyone!
Free Shuttles
FREE shuttles to and from the event will be available. You can get one at Poway City Hall parking lot, 13325 Civic Center Drive and the Boys and Girls Club parking lot at 12988 Bowron Road.
Tidepooling Adventure with Birch Aquarium
January 11 & 25
3 – 5 PM
Location: La Jolla
Visit a local tide pool to learn how these amazing habitats and their inhabitants truly survive between a rock and a hard place.
The optimal season for tidepooling is December – March when minus tides reveal wider beaches and tide pools teeming with life. During those months, you can sign up for a Tidepooling Adventure where our trained naturalists will show you how to tread lightly during your visit and help you discover the wonderful world of tide pools. Ages 2+. Under 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult.

Pre-purchase is required. Birch Aquarium Members: $15, Public: $18. Tidepooling Adventures do not meet at Birch Aquarium.
Endangered: Exploring California’s Changing Ecosystems
January 11 – March 8
Location: Escondido, California Center for the Arts, 340 N Escondido Blvd
Curated by Danielle Deery, Endangered focuses on artworks that highlight the beauty and devastation of local flora and fauna through Southern California. An interactive and educational contemporary art exhibition, it brings greater awareness to the current environmental issues in California.
Cyclovia Encinitas

Location: Encinitas, S Coast Hwy 101 between D and J Streets
Cyclovia is Encinitas’ brand new open street event where you can explore the downtown on bike, foot or anything you power yourself. Coast Highway will be closed to cars!
Enjoy local specials and activities hosted by downtown businesses along Highway 101. Swing by multiple locations for live music and games! The San Diego Bike Coalition will even be holding a bike rodeo for the public. They’ll provide bike racks and bike valets for people traveling by bike.
Encinitas Music By The Sea Concert Series

Piano Duo
National and international award-winning pianists Hye Won Souh and So-Mang Jeagal are incredible solo artists. As a duo, they have a superbly unique onstage chemistry. Since 2017, the duo has presented a Northern California concert series, Piano Talk, to sold out audiences.

Kids Marathon Mile at LEGOLAND

LEGOLAND® California is host to a special, 1-mile fun run for kids of all ages and abilities. Before the doors open to the public, they’re opened for us to enjoy the sights and sounds of LEGOLAND®! Participants can run, walk, skip or stroll, or even be pushed in a stroller or carried on a back as they wind through the park and back out to the finish line.

Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Full and Half Marathon & Surf Sun Run 5K

Farmers Insurance Open

This is the 68th year a PGA TOUR event has been held in San Diego, beginning with the San Diego Open in 1952. 2020 marks the 53rd time the event is being held at Torrey Pines Golf Course and the ninth year of Farmers Insurance sponsorship of the Tournament.
