Now in its 34th year, the Spring Home/Garden Show returns to Del Mar Fairgrounds for a three-day extravaganza. There’s inspiring real "Garden Masters" landscapes, hands-on demonstrations, hundreds of home-improvement products and services exhibitors, educational seminars, plant sales, and face-to-face consultations with top experts. Plus you get easy, one-stop shopping for everything pertaining to home and garden, inside and outside.

The show focuses on San Diego-area experts, services, products, and businesses. Visitors find everything they need to save time and money improving, refreshing, or remodeling their home and outdoor surroundings. You’ll find the latest in appliances, garden lighting, fencing, security systems, baths and sunrooms. Tickets purchased online are $5. Regular admission is $8.

The Mickey Cafagna Memorial Golf Classic was established to honor Mickey Cafagna, former Mayor of Poway. He was one of the most loved and respected elected officials in the city’s history, and distinguished himself by his thoughtful leadership and enthusiastic support of numerous nonprofit organizations.

Beneficiary

In keeping with Mickey’s charitable spirit, a portion of this year’s profits will be donated to the Poway Chapter of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.


The Flower Fields

For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of north San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in southern California.

The Flower Fields are an alcohol and tobacco free environment. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted onsite. No Bicycles, hoverboards or drones are permitted.


Finish Chelsea's Run 5K

Please join us for the 9th Annual Finish Chelsea’s Run in partnership with the Girl Scouts of San Diego and in honor of Chelsea King. The event will take place in Balboa Park where Chelsea loved to visit and where she practiced with the San Diego Youth Symphony. The event will feature a competitive 5K race and fun run/walk, family festival, children’s activities, team competition, entertainment and refreshments.

This annual run/walk is now the primary fundraiser for the Chelsea’s Light Foundation Sunflower Scholarship Fund, providing scholarships for San Diego County college-bound teens who have embraced characteristics that embodied Chelsea’s academic prowess and service-over-self ethic.

Girl Scouts Partnership

We have joined forces with Girl Scouts San Diego, an organization that shares our values and has a long history of creating youth leaders. This partnership strengthens our common vision of recognizing and supporting young people who will make the world a better place. By combining forces, we anticipate growing the run/walk, leading to an even greater ability to protect children and provide scholarships for youth.


The Art of Surf & Skate Culture

A special guest panel, Virtual Reality, live music, art activities, and other highlights are included in this all-ages community event. Join us in celebrating Encinitas’ surf, skate and art culture!

Along with the live music and art, there will be a beer garden and food, photography and a painting and art board. Panelists include Grant Brittain and YESNIK. Ticket cost is $20 presale and $25 at the door.

Lace up your hiking boots, air up your bike tires, saddle up your horses and join the city in celebrating the 28th annual San Marcos Trails Day on Saturday, March 2 from 9 am to 1 pm. You can hike, bike or trot your way down our beautiful trails.

An easy, two-mile hike will visit the Discovery Lake and Discovery Creek trails. A more challenging, seven-mile hike with more than 1,000 feet of elevation gain will be offered to Double Peak Park. In addition to the hike, there is a kids’ bicycle obstacle course and an equestrian 3 and 6 mile trot.

Where to Meet

Meeting Location: Lakeview Park at 650 Foxhall Drive, San Marcos

An adult must accompany all minors. Wear sturdy walking shoes. Bring water, sunscreen and trail snacks. Dogs must be on a maximum 6-foot leash at all times. The hike is subject to cancellation in the event of rain.

Happening Saturday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 3rd, the Busker Festival at Seaport Village celebrates the fascinating and unique talents of street performers who come from across the world to entertain us here in San Diego.

In its 13th year, this free event – California’s only busker festival – is a family-friendly spectacle and a beloved Seaport Village tradition. View 18 eye-catching and unique acts — like sword swallowing, knife throwing, pogo stick tricks and juggling on unicycles — and help determine the People’s Choice award at Seaport Village on March 2-3.

For those 18+, the “Busker After Dark” on Saturday, March 2nd will take place 7-10 p.m. featuring more live acts, and food and beverages for sale.


Annual Koi Show

Over 300 Koi will be on display in competitions, ranging in size from 6 inches to 3 feet long. Learn how to build your own Koi pond and waterfall, turning your backyard into a tropical paradise.

The show will feature vendors selling Koi art, Koi T-Shirts, Koi fish of all sizes, ponds and equipment, including solar power for Koi ponds.

Free Admission

Admission to the Annual Koi Show is free. Hours: 9am to 4pm on Saturday March 2nd; 9am to 2pm on Sunday March 3rd.

The two-day, outdoor CRSSD music fest returns to Waterfront Park in San Diego on March 2 and 3. This 21+ event features over 40 artists on three stages, full craft beer, a mixology program, after parties, as well as assorted dining options from San Diego’s finest local restaurants.

The Off-Broadway hit comedy Men Are From Mars – Women Are From Venus LIVE!, is a one-man fusion of theatre and stand-up, and is a light-hearted theatrical comedy based on the New York Times number one best-selling book of the last decade by John Gray. Moving swiftly through a series of vignettes, the show covers everything from dating and marriage to the bedroom.

This hysterical show will have couples elbowing each other all evening as they see themselves on stage. Sexy and fast-paced, this show is definitely for adults, but will leave audiences laughing and giggling like little kids!


San Diego Latino Film Festival

The San Diego Latino Film Festival will take place March 14-24, 2018 at the AMC 18 Fashion Valley theaters in Mission Valley and the Digital Gym Cinema in North Park. The festival will occupy five screens for eleven days and will present over 160 films from Latin America, the United States, and Spain.

Special Events

In addition to the films, the festival includes opening and closing night parties, the 4th Annual Sabor Latino – Food, Beer & Wine Festival, Q&A sessions with visiting filmmakers, free student screenings, and more. Audiences will have the rare opportunity to meet filmmakers and actors from all over the world.

Join us to celebrate the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation’s Annual Fun Run from one of two starting points around our lagoon. This year’s Leprechaun Dash & Bash raises friends, funds and awareness about the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. This 5K/10K fun run and walk includes lunch from Tip Top Meats, a t-shirt, swag bag, bib, live music, and a beer garden. There is shuttle transportation back to your starting point.

World Water Day Festival

Along with the races, there will be a World Water Day Festival, from 9am to 12pm with games, educational crafts, music, a costume contest, exhibitors and vendors.


South Oceanside Hot Rod Show

South Oceanside Hot Rod, Rat Rod, Custom Car, Bike and Boat Show

This is a neighborhood event with awesome vehicles, entertainment, food and fun for everyone! Funds raised from this event go to support South Oceanside Elementary School. They pay for a variety of school necessities and help pay for 5th graders’ week-long science camp.

The 10th annual Kia Classic LPGA tournament returns to its home at the Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, California from March 25-31, 2019.

The Kia Classic features a 144-player field competing for a purse of $1.8 million. The field features 2018 Kia Classic Champion Eun-Hee Ji and crowd favorites Lydia Ko, Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie and Lexi Thompson.

Schedule

Tournament week will feature a qualifier on Monday, practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday, a Wednesday Pro-Am, and four competitive rounds of play from Thursday through Sunday.


San Diego Tour de Cure

Join the American Diabetes Association at the 2019 San Diego Tour de Cure. It’s better than ever before, with ride, run and walk options for the whole family! All riders, runners, and walkers will be treated to lunch and a fantastic celebration party for all to enjoy. Participants can also earn Tour de Cure apparel!

Tour de Cure is for people of all cycling abilities, featuring four well-marked cycling routes with safety marshals and safety vehicles, and fully stocked rest stops to fuel your journey! The Tour includes 7 mile, 30 mile, 63 mile and 100 mile routes along with a 5K run and walk. Get out, have fun, and celebrate those who are living with diabetes. Every mile covered and every dollar raised brings us that much closer to a cure.


Encinitas Half Marathon

With a fast OCEANFRONT course perfect for both first-timers and elite athletes, the Encinitas Half Marathon is 13.1 miles of unforgettable fun through America’s most quintessential surf town! Plus there’s a 5K this year. 100 percent of the net proceeds are donated to ocean conservation projects.

Racers get a high-quality tech tee, huge finisher’s medal, breakfast and a souvenir race mug. The race is professionally timed with prize money for the top five overall male and female half marathon finishers. There is course support and funky entertainment, pacing groups and a gear check. Racers also get seven miles of breathtaking ocean views from Highway 101!
