Del Mar Racing Season

San Diego horse racing takes place where the “turf meets the surf” at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season, mid-July through early-September. Be part of the magic and nostalgia of this long-time horse race tradition dating back to 1937 when Bing Crosby greeted the first guests, and Seabiscuit won by a nose in the infamous race in 1938. This season features the nation’s top race horses, trainers and jockeys, and plenty of fun in the sun.
Don’t miss the Del Mar Summer Concert Series. Concerts are free with racetrack admission purchased prior to the last race.
California Connections: Selections from the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido draws from the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s (MCASD) permanent collection, featuring works by beloved California artists. MCASD and The California Center for the Arts, Escondido (the Center) share a commitment to serving diverse audiences and bringing people together through art. MCASD has long been dedicated to the history of California art, with works highlighting the wide range of practices and perspectives that have shaped the art of our region from the 1950s to today.
This partnership expands the audience of both organizations and invites members of the two Museums to visit both institutions throughout the run of the exhibition with reciprocal free admission.
Meaning in Bronze and Bronze Casting Workshops

Location: Oceanside Museum of Art, 704 Pier Way
In partnership with the Veterans Art Project (VetArt), OMA will facilitate positive healing for veterans and the communities they call home through the making, showing, and sharing of art. Specifically, VetArt utilizes the multi-stage process of bronze casting to teach art-making skills, and create opportunities for sharing and storytelling. The results provide a powerful tool for educating the broader community about veterans issues through the dignified presentation of completed artwork, and much more.
Bronze casting workshops and demonstrations will be held at OMA on August 5, 10, 19 and 24.
SummerFest Under the Stars

This free outdoor concert is the beginning of the annual SummerFest. It features SummerFest Music Director Cho-Liang Lin, festival artists and special guests for an extraordinary evening of music set against a stunning ocean backdrop.

TGIF Concerts in the Parks

For over 30 years, the City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Office has presented live music events throughout the city. When summer rolls around in Carlsbad, everyone gears up for TGIF Concerts in the Parks! The 2017 season runs Friday nights through August 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. It features great music, food and a chance to dance the night away with friends and neighbors in a beautiful outdoor setting. All fields open at 4 p.m.
This year’s band lineup offers a music genre for everyone, from country to Cajun, and includes rock, funk, soul, blues and swing. Concerts are free. They are open to the public and will take place in four beautiful Carlsbad community parks. As onsite parking is limited, a free shuttle service is available at most concert locations.
The music at TGIF is just the beginning. A variety of food vendors are onsite at the events, or you can bring your own feast from home. Family Open Studios is back with free, hands-on art making activities for all ages.
Vans Warped Tour

The Warped Tour is a traveling rock festival that has toured the United States annually each summer since 1995. It is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and the longest-running touring music festival in North America. It brings together diverse artists, extreme sports, a chance to meet the artists and even support for non-profit organizations.
Oceanside Yacht Club Charity Regatta
August 5 – 6
Location: Oceanside Harbor, 1950 Harbor Dr North
The Oceanside Yacht Club (OYC) is hosting the 15th annual Charity Regatta to benefit The Elizabeth Hospice on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday August 6 at OYC located at 1950 Harbor Drive North, Oceanside. Entry Fee to race in the two-day Regatta is $50 and daily Post-Race Parties are open to the public free of charge beginning at 3:00pm Saturday and 2:00pm Sunday.
The two-day event commences with sailboat races on August 5 and August 6. Food and drink are available for purchase both days along with a silent auction, raffle, awards and live music. The Grand Prize Raffle Drawing includes a 7-day Holland America Cruise for 2 to the Caribbean, Mexico or Canada/New England or Alaska. The cruise drawing is $20 per ticket. The public can join the fun “on the water” and board a luxury powerboat for a $100 per person donation to The Elizabeth Hospice. Enjoy live music by local bands.
Vista Rod Run

This year is the 28th Annual Rod Run, and Vista is proud to once again host a collection of classic, hot rod and specialty vehicles along with their owners. There will be 350 domestic and imported, pre-74 and specialty vehicles including classic and custom hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, and trucks.
The annual Rod Run features live music, a raffle, vendors, trophies, and a 50/50 drawing with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Vista Teen Outreach. Hosted by the Vista Village Business Association.
Oceanside International Film Festival

Location: Oceanside, various theaters
Held every August, Oceanside International Film Festival officially kicks off a season of various film festivals, which are conducted annually in San Diego County and usually continue through the fall. Established in 2009, OIFF is an opportunity for independent filmmakers to have their work screened and judged. It also gives the film buffs a jump-start chance for viewing local and international films at a place in Southern California known for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and artistic freedom.
Over the course of 8 days, OIFF 2017 will screen over 70 films and showcase some of the best San Diego has to offer in local craft brew and catering.
Sunday Summer Concerts by the Sea

This summer, Encinitas Parks and Recreation brings more fun to our beach concert experience. Each concert date features cool, hands-on exhibits, demos, concerts and free stuff! All you need to do is show up, how cool is that? There are two concert dates in August. August 6 features Betamaxx playing 80s music. August 20 features Simpkin Project playing Reggae.
Summer Concerts are held right on the sand at beautiful Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Come enjoy fun at the beach. Remember that glass, alcohol, smoking and dogs are prohibited on our beaches.
33rd Annual Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club Contest and Beach Festival

This is really three events taking place on the south side of the Oceanside pier, the Oceanside Longboard Annual Surf Contest, the Guy Takayama PRO-AM Noseriding Event, and the Oceanside Beach Festival. The 33rd annual event features coalition surf teams from all over California. The event will include a beach festival in the amphitheater with merchandise vendors, music, food and a beer garden.
The event is free to spectators and shoppers. Sponsored by The Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club (OLSC).
Movies in the Park

Snores ‘n S’mores Family Campout

Set up your tent in the park for a fun overnight campout, and we’ll provide the rest. Enjoy a night under the stars as you become a star. It’s a night all about Sing with games and activities that put you in the show. Sing in your own music video, get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, design your own guitar, and leap across building roof tops to get to the show.
The event will feature a special performance from Star Theatre in Oceanside. The Star Kids and Glee Club will perform at 6:30 p.m. The evening wraps up with an outdoor movie presentation of Sing (rated PG) complete with popcorn and s’mores.

Cardiff Dog Days of Summer

Cardiff-by-the-Sea is ready to celebrate man’s best friend! Set in this beautiful beach community, this FREE event features over 200 dog-related vendors and rescue groups, pet adoptions, live music, dog contests, kid activities, beer and wine oasis, food trucks and more! The event is hosted by Cardiff 101 Main Street and is expected to draw 10,000 four-legged friends, their fans and family members.
Dog Days of Summer is San Diego County’s largest dog-centric event! You can watch or enter in six different dog contests including Cutest Puppy, Best Trick, Best Dressed, Dog/Owner Look-A-Like, Best Looking Big Dog and Best Looking Small Dog. Summer Jazz Concert 2017

Spend the evening listening to the sounds of the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra perform to the music of Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Baise, Artie Shaw, Stan Kenton and many more.
The BB&JHF Orchestra consists of musical talents playing authentic arrangements of these famous big bands. CD’s will be available for purchase the day of the concert.
This event will be held in the Gazebo Lawn and chairs will be provided.

Moonlight Presents Sunset Boulevard

Sunset Boulevard weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition. Silent movie star, Norma Desmond, longs for a return to the big screen, having been discarded by tinsel town with the advent of talkies. Her glamour has faded in all but her mind. When she meets struggling Hollywood screen-writer Joe Gillis in dramatic circumstances, their subsequent passionate and volatile relationship leads to an unforeseen and tragic conclusion.
Based on the film noir classic by Billy Wilder that starred Gloria Swanson and William Holden, it received seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and features some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most soaring melodies including, “With One Look” and “As If We Never Said Goodbye.”
Stone 21st Anniversary Celebration & International Beer Festival

San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival
