Legacy Of The Land  April 1 – May 3

Three exhibitions in one, “Legacy of the Land” at The California Center for the Arts, Escondido will be an unparalleled collection revisiting our historic roots.

First Friday ArtWalk  April 3 Time: 6 to 9 pm

Join local downtown Oceanside businesses to promote our vibrant art community showcasing live performances, music, poetry, hands-on art, culinary and pop-up art galleries, embedded in local businesses and public spaces.

Brengle Terrace Egg Hunt  April 4 Time: 9:30 – 11:30 am
Region: North County
The City of Vista is holding an egg hunt at Brengle Terrace Park with free admission for ages 2 to 10 .

EGGstravaganza Spring Festival  April 4 Time: 10 am to 1 pm
Region: North County Coastal
EggsThe City of Carlsbad is celebrating spring with music, fun games, arts and crafts and a Fun Zone with bounce houses, a giant slide, obstacle courses and a chance to “soak the bunny.” Collect eggs in the ongoing “egg scramble” activity. Children race to collect assorted eggs on the baseball fields. This activity sends groups of approximately 20 children of similar age into the out field to collect as many eggs as they can. Activity card must be purchased for $6 to participate in “egg scramble,” crafts, fun zone or bunny balloon soak.Unlimited fun zone wristbands are also available for $6.

City of Encinitas Spring Egg Hunt  April 4 Time: 10 am to 1 pm

It’s all about the kids! The City of Encinitas will present its annual Easter Egg Hunt Festival on Saturday, April 4 2015 at Encinitas Community Park from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Egg hunt times are as follows; 10:15 – 2 years & under, 10:45 – 3 year-olds, 11:15 – 4 & 5 year-olds, 11:45 – 6 & up. Free children’s activities will be hosted by the City of Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department. We invite you to make a day of it and enjoy the beautiful new Encinitas Community Park. Please bring your own basket or bag for eggs. Limited parking is available on-site at the park. Auxiliary parking is available at the Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas lower parking lots, accessed off of Devonshire Drive. Buyer & Cellar at The Old Globe  April 4 – May 3

Peace-Love-Run Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Run  April 4
Region: Mission Bay San Diego
Get your “Groove On” as we race along this scenic waterfront course in San Diego! Love Beads and Flower Power Children will be waiting for our runners. Our festival will be open to all your friends and family while you race!

Padres Fan Fest  April 4
Region: Downtown San Diego
The event is FREE for all fans but you must obtain a FanFest voucher to enter the event.

Zydeco Day at The Flower Fields  April 5 Time: 1 to 4 pm
Region: North County Coastal
The Flower Fields of Carlsbad, California will make sure your Easter is memorable with live music featuring The Bayou Brothers.

Carlsbad Walks Meetup: Coolest Shoes to Lagoon and Back  April 9 Time: 5 pm
Region: North County Coastal
This faster paced walk will start in front of Coolest Shoes in CA on State Street and will go to Buena Vista Lagoon and back. The planned route is 2.2 miles and 42 minutes (over 4,000 steps) and there is an extension planned, if the group wants more mileage and time.

Heartbreak Ridge Run  April 11 Time: 6 am to 12 pm
Region: North County Coastal
Heartbreak Ridge RunAn off-road running race held in the northwestern foothills of your Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. It offers multiple distance choices with a challenging hill climb and scenic views of surrounding mountains and meadows.

Bluegrass Day at The Flower Fields  April 11 Time: 11 am to 4 pm
Region: North County Coastal
Family and friends will enjoy a full day of Bluegrass music with the sounds of guitar, banjo and fiddle! This year we will have a number of bands.

Cerro De Las Posas Ridgeline/Double Peak  April 11 Time: 9 am to 12 pm
Region: North County Inland
This moderately difficult, six-mile hike will explore the Cerro De Las Posas ridgeline trails with overlooks of Lake San Marcos, the Valley of Discovery and the Pacific Ocean. There will be steep climbs with an elevation gain of 500 feet. Sign-in begins at 8:30 am

San Diego Botanic Garden ArtFest  April 11 – 12
Region: North County Coastal
San Diego Botanic GardenA delightful combination of a Fine Art Show, Quick Draw Contest, Art Demonstrations, and Asian Art Show. The Fine Art Show will feature over 20 artists who will be showing and selling their work including sculptors, painters, glass artists, potters, and gourd and fiber artists. Many of the artists will be providing interesting demonstrations of their craft. The Quick Draw contest will feature 20 artists who will be creating an entire work in an allotted time right before your eyes. Those pieces will then be available for purchase at the event. The Asian Art Show by Keiri Study Group of Sogetsu School will be celebrating the Art of Asian horticulture with outstanding displays of Ikebana and Bonsai, lectures and demonstrations. Delicious food is made possible by Divine Fresh Foods serving yummy Greek delights.

Cultural Dance Series – Uma Suresh & Dancers  April 12
Region: North County Inland
Artistic Director Uma Suresh and her company of dancers will present – Bharata Natyam, the 3000 year old classical dance tradition from the temples of Southern India. Embodying religion, philosophy, and mythology the specially choreographed collage of dances will combine a rich tapestry of poetry, music, rhythmic dance and story-telling, offering not only spiritual experience but also lighthearted humor. Dressed in ornate costumes and striking their bare feet in intricate rhythms, the dancers will showcase the beauty and unison of mind and body in all its glory.

70th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show  April 16 – May 3
Region: North County Coastal
One of the oldest and most prestigious equestrian competitions in the Western US, the Annual Del Mar National Horse Show is comprised of a week each of Western, Dressage and Hunter/Jumper competition. Over 3,000 horses take part, representing many breeds, at the equestrian complex at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in coastal Del Mar. Spectators will see reining, spins, sliding stops, elegant dressage moves choreographed to music, daredevil show jumping, trick riders, comedy acts, thrills and spills, and more.

Fighting Parkinson’s Step by Step 5K Walk/Run April 18
Region: Point Loma
The Fighting Parkinson’s Step by Step 5K dog friendly walk/run is in honor of the 200,000+ people in Southern California who are affected by Parkinson’s, be it caregiver, patient, or family member. Be a part of this wonderful event and help us get closer to our vision – a world without Parkinson’s disease. It is more than just a 5K walk/run, it is a day of fun for the whole family! Other activities include: Paws for Parkinson’s Pet Festival, Medical Expo, Health and Fitness Pavilion, Marketplace, Kids Zone, Food Court, Beer Garden, Photo Booths, Classic Car Shows and more! Lace up your shoes and join us for a beautiful 5K on the bay at NTC Park in Point Loma in efforts to fight Parkinson’s disease! This timed, USATF sanctioned event is where thousands of runners, walkers, and spectators participate to show their support for this great cause! Proceeds from this event fund research, vital programs & services to local Parkinson’s families.

Encinitas Garden Festival & Tour  April 18

Encinitas Garden FestivalVisit dozens of private gardens in a wonderful and walkable neighborhood of Encinitas! The daylong festival (10 am to 4:30 pm) also includes exhibitors and guest speakers providing information about gardening in San Diego, a Gardener’s Marketplace that serves as the event’s central hub, and a Marketplace filled with vendors offering unusual plants, vegetable seedlings, garden art, food, beverages and more.

Pirate Plunge April 18 Time: 5 to 9 pm
Region: North County Coastal
Enjoy pirate themed pool activities and games during the City of Carlsbad’s first Pirate Plunge event at Alga Norte Aquatic Center at 6565 Alicante Road on Saturday, April 18, from 5 to 9 p.m. Come dressed in a swimsuit and enjoy the fun, swashbuckling activities which include diving for treasure, cannonball crush, fishing for skulls, ship raider race and more. As the sun goes down, finish the night off with a special presentation of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean on the giant outdoor movie screen. Cost is $8 per person. Children ages 3 and under are free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Taste of Hillcrest   April 18

Escondido Roots Series Presents: Mexico  April 18 Time: 2 to 4 pm

Join us to celebrate Mexico. The program includes a showcase of the culture’s rich art shown in folk tales, music, dance, or puppetry along with a special cultural craft and a dress-up costume area.

2015 Foxy Trail Half Marathon and 5K  April 19

Foxy LogoThe Foxy Trail Half Marathon is brought to you by Dirt Devil Racing.com and is the first Trail Half Marathon of four Half Marathons being held in 2015 as part of the “Animal Half Marathon Series.” All our trail races are incredible, but this Foxy out and back race is probably the most scenic course in our series. Foxy promises to deliver the ultimate in a trail running experience.

Shir Energy Music Festival 2015  April 19

A multi-generational music and cultural event featuring Matisyahu, Casey Abrams, ShirLaLa and more, whose purpose is to bring together community, celebrate art, inspire one another and uplift the human spirit.

Fallbrook Avocado Festival  April 19
Region: North County Inland
Fallbrook Avocado FestivalSince the 1960s, tens of thousands of avocado lovers converge in Fallbrook to sample avocados, check out the crazy cooking contest entries, buy funky avocado-themed gifts and enjoy bands, live entertainment and friendly beer gardens. Come prepared to visit the many craft and food booths – you can never go hungry at the Avocado Festival. Colorful booths line Main and Alvarado Street featuring unique clothing, hats, arts, crafts, jewelry, and farm-fresh produce for purchase. A variety of bands and other live entertainment are offered for the pleasure of festival-goers. Beer gardens and numerous food vendors cater to every whim.

Encinitas Street Fair  April 25 – 26
Region: North County Coastal
Enjoy over 450 unique food, arts and crafts vendors plus four entertainment stages, children’s rides, Dog Zone, Kids Zone, bike valets, and a Beer Garden! Take advantage of free family fun, entertainment, a National Award Winning MainStreet and a traditional So-Cal beach town. Come for the sun, stay for the moonlight.

Rhythm & Brews Music and Craft Beer Festival   April 25
Region: North County Inland
60 breweries, 7 bands, 2 stages, 1 helluva day. Join us for the 4th Annual Rhythm & Brews Music and Craft Beer Festival presented by the San Diego Brewers Guild. Once again Rhythm & Brews continues the tradition of bringing many of the nation’s most popular craft beers together with talented musicians in a beautiful outdoor festival located in the historic Vista Village district. The event raises funds for the San Diego Brewers Guild and Fight ALD.

La Jolla Half Marathon & 5K   April 25
Region: North County Coastal and La Jolla
La Jolla Half MarathonThe La Jolla Half Marathon is one of America’s most picturesque and beautiful point-to-point races. Starting at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the course follows a scenic coastal route before reaching the challenging climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park. After leaving the park, the course rolls atop Torrey Pines mesa, continues down through the residential district of La Jolla Shores, and finishes in Ellen Browning Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove. The La Jolla Half Marathon is race #2 in the Half Marathon Triple Crown Series.
