  1. Clean out the gutters.
  2. Trim trees to keep them from touching the home.
  3. Make sure downspouts drain away from the house.
  4. Lower the soil below the weep screed and make sure the soil slopes away from the home.
  5. Change the HVAC filter. You should also have the HVAC system cleaned and serviced.
  6. Tighten or reinstall loose toilets.
  7. Repair leaks in faucets and under sinks.
  8. Make sure drains are not clogged or slow.
  9. Clean and re-caulk showers, tubs and sinks.
  10. Test and fix GFCI and other electrical plugs and switches.
  11. Remove permanent extension cords in the house and garage.
  12. Test existing and/or install new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  13. Make sure windows move smoothly and latch.
