Simply Beautiful: Photographs from National Geographic  March 1 – May 17
Region: North County Coastal
Photographs from National Geographic will take visitors on a visual journey through variations on the universal theme of beauty. More than 50 images from National Geographic’s image collection will highlight everything from stunning landscapes and magnificent wildlife to captivating people and picturesque locales.

Fragile Waters  March 1 – September 15
Region: Downtown
FRAGILE WATERS at the Maritime Museum of San Diego is a powerful artistic and ecological statement through the inspiring black and white images of three renowned photographers and environmentalists – Ansel Adams, Ernest H. Brooks II, and Dorothy Kerper Monnelly. The traveling exhibition of 119 photographs, many not previously exhibited, takes viewers from the snow-melt of the High Sierras at 12,000 feet elevation to far below the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean.

First Friday ArtWalk  March 6 from 6 to 9 pm

Oceanside is the home to military, surf, skate and NOW A THRIVING ART DISTRICT. Join us as we promote our vibrant art community showcasing live performances, music, poetry, art education, culinary and pop-up art galleries embedded in local businesses and public spaces. The theme for March is Zen of a Woman.

Annie  March 6 – 22
Region: La Jolla
Annie tells the rags-to-riches Depression-era story of a spunky orphan who, unlike the other children at Miss Hannigan’s miserable orphanage, believes that her parents are alive and will return to claim her. When billionaire Oliver Warbucks offers to adopt her, she asks him to help find her real parents instead. Warbucks’ whopping reward for Annie’s parents attracts the attention of con artists Rooster, Lily, and the wicked Miss Hannigan, who hatch a plot to kidnap Annie and take the $50,000 reward. But don’t fret: this classic family musical has a happy ending for Annie, Daddy Warbucks, and the whole gang.

Best Coast Beer Fest  March 7

Spring Busker Festival  March 7 – 8 12 to 6 pm
Region: Downtown
The celebration brings colorful street performers from across the country to perform their bizarre talents like sword swallowers, jugglers on unicycles, escape artists and comedic stuntmen to the cobblestone streets of downtown’s Seaport Village.

San Diego Half Marathon  March 8
Region: Downtown
The San Diego Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile race that celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of San Diego, while raising money to support our communities!

Anna in the Tropics  March 12 – 29
Region: North County Inland
The 2015 Winter Season at the AVO Playhouse is closing with the Pulitzer Prize winning Anna in the Tropics by Nilo Cruz.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival  March 14
Region: Downtown
The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade will be followed by an Irish festival with traditional dancers, music, a beer garden and Celtic village.

Opera Previews: Nixon in China  March 14 10 to 11 am
Region: North County Coastal
Our popular, media-augmented lectures on San Diego Opera productions by USD music history professor Ron Shaheen introduces you to the opera Nixon in China. Free tickets will be distributed starting 45 minutes before the production. Opera Previews is supported by the Robert H. Garner Cultural Endownment Fund of the Carlsbad Library and arts Foundation.

Spring Garden Festival and Tomatomania   March 14 – 15

Nixon in China by John Adams   March 14 – 22
Region: Downtown
San Diego Opera presents Nixon in China by John Adams. Straight from the headlines and live news broadcasts of the day, Nixon in China pays musical witness to President Richard Nixon’s historic trip to Beijing in 1972 and goodwill meetings with China’s Chairman Mao Tse-Tung and Premier Chou En-Lai.

Winter Concert – Allison Adams Tucker  March 15 2 pm
Region: North County Coastal
San Diego local and international jazz vocalist Allison Adams Tucker will perform with her band. Classically trained with a passion for cultures around the world, Allison sings in six languages including Italian, French, Japanese and Spanish. Admission is free; seating is first come, first served.

We’re a Big Fan of Wind Energy  March 19 12 to 2 pm
Region: Downtown
Celebrate the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering at The New Children’s Museum! Impress your family by creating wind energy with your body, and then blow them away with a take-home art piece of your own! The interactive artwork, Wind Vessel, by artist Miki Iwasaki makes wind power – a resource we often take for granted – visible. Following your scientific exploration, spend the day playing throughout the Museum.

Daffodil Show  March 21 – 22
Region: East County
Visit Julian to marvel at Daffodils on display and have any questions about daffodils answered by National Daffodil Society experts.

Sailor’s Days  March 22 – April 5
Region: Downtown
Come aboard and join the fun at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. You can become a sailor for the day. Families can explore the vessels while on a scavenger hunt & kids win a prize. This is all included with your general admission!

Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra Series  March 22 2 to 3 pm
Region: Downtown
Enjoy tunes from Mainly Mozart’s Youth Orchestra and interactive musical petting zoo at the Museum!

SDJT Presents: Much Ado About Nothing  March 27 – April 4

This classic Shakespeare comedy shows how the game-playing and plotting of a noble family leads to fun, intrigue, and silly misunderstandings.

Rock in the Park – Earl Thomas  March 27
Region: Downtown
The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is ready to ROCK with our second annual live concert series! Earl Thomas’ music is strongly influenced by his parents’ love of blues and gospel music and his own affinity for ’60s and ’70s soul. His “I Sing the Blues” became a hit for Etta James, and he’s played European music festivals with such artists as Elvis Costello and B.B. King. 21+ only.

The Sleeping Beauty in Balboa Park   March 27 – April 4

San Diego Civic Youth Ballet proudly presents the 70th Anniversary Production of The Sleeping Beauty.

Lecture: Chinese Master Painter Wu Yi  March 28 9 am to 12 pm

During this lecture, contemporary Chinese Master Painter Wu Yi will show and discuss his paintings and technique at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park.
