San Diego International Auto Show  Jan 1 – 4
Region: Downtown
The San Diego International Auto Show features over 400 vehicles from 40 global manufacturers. The 2015 model-year vehicles feature the newest technology to enhance the driving experience, all packaged in luxurious interiors and wrapped in cutting edge designs. Show visitors can participate in exciting, fun new features, family entertainment, and interactive activities.

Family Drop-In Day: Exploring Post-Impressionism  Jan 4 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Region: Balboa Park
Family Drop-In Days at The San Diego Museum of Art are family-friendly weekly activities and tours at the museum. They are offered every Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Projects change every week with topics changing monthly. This month’s topic is Exploring Post-Impressionism.

Poway Winter Festival  Jan 9 – 10
Region: North County Inland
Experience the magic and charm of winter like never before! Join us for Winter Festival on Friday, January 9 from 5:00-9:00pm and Saturday, January 10 from 4:00-9:00pm at Poway Community Park. Feel snow between your fingers while sledding down the snow hill; smell roasting marshmallows as you devour delicious s’mores; experience the wind in your hair skating around the synthetic ice rink; and peruse a variety of vendors and their sensational products.

Gaslamp Ghosts Walking Tour   Jan 10 – 29 on Fridays only
Region: Downtown
Take a stroll through the Gaslamp’s haunted history with Davis House historian, Sandee Wilhoit, who will recount ghostly happenings of the past and of the present. Visit hotels, saloons, brothels and a long-ago funeral parlor. End your tour inside the Gaslamp’s most haunted edifice – the William Heath Davis House. The tour takes place regardless of weather conditions.

Borrego Springs Film Festival  Jan 15 – 19
Region: East County
In 1920 the pioneering filmmaker and actress, Nell Shipman, launched a new era for Borrego Springs, California with her film, Something New, and things have never been the same! Silent films, comedies, science fiction, war and westerns, independent and major studios… all have found their special place in Borrego Springs. Borrego Springs and the Anza-Borrego desert have provided strange, stark and amazing locations for nearly a century of films and filmmakers. Come, be a part of the next 100 years of film making in Borrego Springs.

Kids Marathon Mile at LEGOLAND California  Jan 17
Region: North County Coastal
LEGOLAND California is host to a special, 1-mile fun run for kids of all ages and abilities. Before the doors open to the public, they’re opened for us to enjoy the sights and sounds of LEGOLAND! Participants can run, walk, skip or stroll, or even be pushed in a stroller or carried on a back as they wind through the park, making their way to an exciting, spectator-filled finish line. Each finisher is presented with a shiny finisher’s medal and treated to a fun post-event party with a DJ, activities, light refreshments and booths. The event concludes at 10 am with the opening of LEGOLAND and SEA LIFE Aquarium where registered participants age 12 and under can enter the park for free and moms and dads can enter for 50 percent off admission.

2015 Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon  Jan 18
Region: North County Coastal
The Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon is a winter marathon and half marathon unlike any other, from the ideal weather conditions to a spectacular coastal course. The course goes through Carlsbad Village and along the oceanfront Pacific Coast Highway. Participants will stay motivated with live bands every mile, spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and thousands of spectators and volunteers lining the course.

35th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade  Jan 18 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Region: Downtown
Join us on Harbor Drive Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. for the 35th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. This is one of the largest celebrations of its kind in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the United States. Our parade is filled with dazzling floats, soulful high school bands, drill teams, colleges, fraternities, churches, organizations, peace and youth groups.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day  Jan 19
Region: Balboa Park
Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Worldbeat Center will feature outdoor cultural arts and craft vendors, marketplace, and Oneworld Cafe – vegetarian food served! Through his activism, Martin Luther King Jr. played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of African-American citizens in the South and other areas of the nation, as well as the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. King received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, among several other honors. King was assassinated in April 1968, and continues to be remembered as one of the most lauded African-American leaders in history.

Region: La Jolla
Laugh-in: Art, Comedy, Performance explores the work of contemporary artists who engage the strategies and themes of stand-up comedy to reframe questions surrounding performativity, audience, and public speech.

Art in Motion Mojalet Dance Collective  Jan 24 – 25
Region: North County Inland
Emerging dance artists perform contemporary choreography by Faith Jensen-Ismay and dance faculty Andrew Holmes, Alia Ismay and Sadie Ismay. The works range from playful to athletic and intimate with an amazing group of talented young dancers.
